Formed in October 2009, Girish and the Chronicles is a Hard Rock/Melodic Rock/Heavy Metal band based out of the Indian city, Bengaluru. Originally from the state of Sikkim, India, the band released its first single, “Angel”, in the winter of 2009, followed by songs like “Loaded”, “Golden crown” and “Smile little child” (Which was done in association with Operation Smile).  Their song “Yesteryears” (Known as Angel’s Angel) was nominated in the Suncane Skale music awards Festival, Montenegro and also bagged Silver trophy for it. 

Known for heavy over-driven guitars, high pitched screaming vocals, roaring drums and groovy yet technical bass lines, the band holds on to sound of the the ‘70s and ‘80s style of hard rock and heavy metal music, along with power ballads, which is evident in their songs. 

GATC also has a worldwide reach on YouTube, with more than 2 Million views on their song, “Endless Road”. The band’s songs are also featured in Music Mojo (Kappa TV). The band’s own YouTube channel by the name “Girish and The Chronicles/GATC”, has also received appraisals from across the globe. 

Over the 10 years of its existence, GATC has set a good name and reputation in the independent rock scene of India. They have toured across the country and  overseas as well, in countries like Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam, Dubai (UAE) and Montenegro. 

GATC has been a part of various music festivals in India such as NH7 weekender, October fest (Bengaluru), Bangalore Open Air (Bengaluru), India Bike Week, Harley Rock Riders, HOG meet, to name a few and have headlined many events in various parts of the country.

The band released their debut album “Back on Earth”, in 2014, under Universal Music Group, India, consisting of the earlier singles re-recorded and new songs which included, “Ride to Hell”, “Shot by the Cupid, Touched by the Devil”, “End of Civilization”, “I Wanna Get That Lovin Again”, “Revolving Barrel”, “Born With A Big Attitude” and “Hey You!”.  They did a six city Hard Rock Cafe tour and the video for “Angel” was featured on VH1.

GATC has since released 3 singles, namely, “Endless Road”, in collaboration with the Roadster Life Company, “Walking the Line”, in collaboration with the Indian guitar company, Kadence. Their latest single release, “Rock the Highway”, is based on Bikers and Rock ‘n Rollers.

The band has opened for bands such as Hoobastank, Poets of the fall, Destruction, and TesseracT during their performances in India. During their initial years, the band was made a part of the panel of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR). In January 2019 they opened for TesseracT during their performance in Bengaluru. 

In May 2019, The band signed up with Lion’s Pride Music; A Denmark based rock record label and are to release their second album, worldwide on the 27th of April, 2020 with the same name, “Rock The Highway”.
